As most of you know, I have taken over Fey Publishing. I plan to stick with the motto "Bringing new talent to light". I am not requiring publishing credits to be considered and I want to work with both new and seasoned writers alike. I've found so much love and support within the Indie author community, I want to give back and help other writers out too. I'm planning on paying cover designers and editors for their time (once I get to a place where I can), and hopefully help build their careers up as well. This company will help me in many ways, but it will also help others. This is why it's such a good fit for me. I love helping others succeed, and plan to do my best to help all my writers, designers and editors build up their resume and further their careers.

My Indiegogo campaign ends in 9 hours.

I don't really plan on reaching my goal, and that's fine. I really didn't understand the concept of setting a goal and then setting stretch goals, I put down the max I would need to get everything up and running and figured that way I wouldn't have to ask for me when I met a goal (that felt weird to me and I already didn't want to appear like I was begging for donations and bothering you guys).

I will be able to get going with whatever I raise. However, the more I raise, the more books I can put out right away and I can also hopefully pay editors and cover designers too. All funds will go to the company, in a separate account, and will go to publishing books. The first book will be Kevin's next book - Shattered Honor. He hopes to have it finished tomorrow and then it's off to the editors. We have a cover for it and everything. I have two anthologies I am accepting submissions for and it's going really well. I get several submissions a day and already planning a volume two of the Horrors of History anthology and one submission was amazing, but didn't fit the specifications... so I have another anthology idea for that one now too. Not to mention, one other writer is writing a book specifically to be published through me, the third book in the Vampire Relics trilogy, and I've gotten manuscript submissions galore. So I'm starting out strong. Anyone who wouldn't mind sharing the campaign in the last few hours, I'd really appreciate it.

There are great perks such as $1 e-books (for those who can only donate a little) and they can be found here. There are e-books ranging from horror to romance to young adult to mainstream fiction. These authors have all been so great in helping me out, so please, if anything take the time to check out their work and following their pages.

There's also the raffles for the custom portrait going on. The guy from Asylum Graphics is freaking amazing and he will draw any person or pet you want. Send him a photo and he can do it. He can even make some minor changes. Like he's able to put to children together who were previously not photographed together, the same with pets. Check that out here, including samples of his work.

There's also the raffle for all the free Fey Publishing books.

This is one of the only ways to get an advanced e-copy of Kevin's next book. I can now send it in other formats other than PDF including mobi and ePub. It's also one of the only ways to get a signed copy of Kevin's book.

I have also included my upcoming book of shorts in the promotion, and the people who choose this perk can get it in any e-format as well. And it's also the only want to secure yourself an advanced copy of that as well. This book is in editing and will be out within the next couple of months.

Every little bit helps. Money is seriously extra tight right now. I lost my job in October. Kevin lost his job a few weeks ago. They cut my unemployment benefits this month without much warning. I really need to get something up and running to bring in extra money, and this had so much potential to help me out. I just have these initial barriers of entry to get past. Remember, every little bit helps. Thanks to all of you who have donated, shared or helped out in ANY way. I will forever be in your debt and never hesitate to ask for my help in the future. If you want to share or donate, there's 9 more hours. And trust me, I appreciate every little bit of help I can get. You guys rock.

I'm adding a resost button because it couldn't hurt. Feel free to share far and wide if you like.

If this is not your thing, please feel free to scroll on by and I promise, I will stop talking about Indiegogo very soon since it ends very soon.

Odd Jobs // Jericho Brown

I spent what light Saturday sent sweating
And learned to cuss cutting grass for women
Kind enough to say they couldn’t tell the damned
Difference between their mowed lawns
And their vacuumed carpets just before
Handing over a five-dollar bill rolled tighter
Than a joint and asking me in to change
A few light bulbs. I called those women old
Because they wouldn’t move out of a chair
Without my help or walk without a hand
At the base of their backs. I called them
Old, and they must have been; they’re all dead
Now, dead and in the earth I once tended.
The loneliest people have the earth to love
And not one friend their own age—only
Mothers to baby them and big sisters to boss
Them around, women they want to please
And pray for the chance to say please to.
I don’t do that kind of work anymore. My job
Is to look at the childhood I hated and say
I once had something to do with my hands.

Kiss Me, You Fool!

Today was the first time in a long time a pepper has managed to numb my lips. That little mother was Hot, Hot, HOT!

Crunchy fresh and practically raw, it was hot, even for a jalapeño. Jeebus! I was on fire!

The thought had crossed my mind that it might have enough Scoville **scortchability units to actually cause a sort of burn. Thankfully that was not the case.

Lordy, those were some good chicken enchiladas. *laughs*

One of the only times I can remember leaving sliced jalapeño peppers sitting on my plate though. “That’s enough of that one!”

Last night out was fun although I stayed out too late and really had too much fun. Talked to a couple friends that I hadn’t spoken to in a few months.

Interesting development. I seem to be painting myself into a ‘no more beer corner’ just about like I quit cigarettes. Although not life threatening, I just don’t enjoy barley and hops concoction as much as I used to. I certainly don't care for the way it has been making me feel the next day.

**It’s a word and you don’t even need to look up the definition! You instantly know what it means. *grins* Even though I just made it up.

I just signed up for an NCIS big bang, this one for a 10K minimum. I can do that pretty good, right? I need to write down my deadlines for everything, as that's now in addition to intoabar and the Wincest Big Bang. Yikes.

Feeling the need, filling the need

This little light o' mine,
I'm gonna let it shine...

Inspired by the candle stands at LifeJourney Church, Indianapolis, I again present my monthly poll. As usual, I'll be bringing the list to church Sunday (as I keep noting, this isn't just a Christian thing, candles for prayer or meditation are used in practically all faiths). Newcomers can look down the "prayer candles" tag to see the origin of this.

Thought for the Day

The installation may be easy, but not if I have to build it first.

Update From Tennessee

Hello all, hope life is treating you well.

Things are good here today. Yesterday I had to take my sweet sidekick, RedDog to the Vet. He was so sick. He was lethargic, had a very very high fever and just no energy or appetite, so he was dehydrated. I called today to check on him and asked of I could drop by and see and hold him. They said it would be fine. They had to detach the tube from his IV (they're replenishing his fluids) and when they brought him into the room he was wearing the infamous CONE OF SHAME because he had been trying to get at the tape that was holding the IV needle securely in his leg. He's a sneaky one, my Red.
The Vet Tech was so sweet to remove the cone so I could snuggle-hug my furry baby boy. He looked so good, that I am now floating with joy and no more fear he will die.
Red is a favorite of the staff at our animal hospital, and they were so sweet to me today. (I walked in cryng and left the same way, but it had tured to tears of joy.) When I got home I called our florist and ordered a large vase of flowers to be delivered to thank the front desk ladies for always being so sweet to us and to our dogs, and for making Red a favorite at Eads Animal Hospital.

In other news, our garden is looking good. It's strawberry season and our teeny tiny strawberry patch is already producing fruit that is so sweet. I think we need a larger patch of the garden dedicated to this wonderful Spring fruit. The new fruit trees (apples, pears, and figs) are filling with blossoms, there are aleady baby blueberries on the blueberry bushes, and small flowers on the raspberries. And my bottle trees are trying hard to stop falling over. (will try to add a photo of them)

My sons are doing well, Adam and his fiance's business continues to grow, and Dan is enjoying his Clinical Rotations at the hospital and studying for more exams.
An account of my first-ever trip to Camden Yards on Tuesday, which was wonderful despite the Yankees' tenth-inning walkoff loss.

An excerpt:
The O's have a pretty storied history since moving to Bawlmer from St. Louis. (Amusingly, there is no evidence that the O's were ever the St. Louis Browns on display in the Yards that I could find. Given the Brownies' history, including just the one pennant in 1944 when most of the good players were fighting in World War II, this isn't much of a surprise.)

A lot of that history can be found in front of Gate H, the gate closest to the light rail station and the convention center, and where they display all the O's retired numbers as standalone statues depicting the number in question, along with a plaque identifying the player and the year the number was retired. There's also a statue of Babe Ruth as a youth, identifying him as a "native Baltimorean." (At least they have a more legitimate claim to Ruth, who was born and raised in Charm City, as opposed to the tenuous claim they have on Edgar Allan Poe just 'cause he happened to die there. Poe was born in Boston, and spent as much time in Philadelphia and New York City as he did Baltimore. On the other hand, I love the notion of a football team named after a Poe poem. But I digress.)
